Charles Airport: Drive north on the John Compton Hwy, following signs for Gros Islet and Reduit Beach. Turn left at the green mall and hotel is on the left. Getting there: Taxis are the easiest way with fares of $16–$25 USD. Rental cars are available online for more than $36 USD. Fees subject to change without notice. Hewanorra International Airport (UVF): Approximate driving time is 1 hour and 20 minutes and distance is 39 miles. Driving directions from Hewanorra International Airport: Turn left out of the airport onto the main highway and follow it north past Castries. Follow signs for Reduit Beach. Turn left at the green mall and hotel is on the left. Getting there: Taxis are the easiest way with fares of more than $36 USD. Rental cars are available online for more than $36 USD. Getting around: Guests can walk across the road behind the hotel for a number of restaurants and bars but shopping requires a trip into the town of Castries (taxi is $16–$25 USD.) Public buses do not stop at the hotel but can be used elsewhere around the island for fares less than $5 USD. Driving is not recommended for those unaccustomed to driving on the left side of narrow, winding, mountainous roads. Ferries cross Rodney Bay for less than $5 USD and travel from the island to Martinique, Dominica, and Guadeloupe for return fares of more than $36 USD. Fees subject to change without notice.

The resort offers 96 extra-spacious suites in four sand-colored buildings of 2-3 stories without elevators. Suites feature large patios or balconies and raised, carpeted bedrooms that can be made private by closing louvered shutters and sheer curtains. Decor includes hallway and sitting-area floors of gleaming Italian ceramic tile; pink walls with white-wood baseboards, crown molding, and trim; and pale rattan furniture with thick cushions. Oversize bathrooms offer separate vanity sinks, shower/tub combinations, and separate stall "massage" showers with vertical and horizontal showerheads.

What to expect: Popular with honeymooners, the resort attracts an international clientele of adult couples and families desiring a small, tranquil, beachfront hotel with spacious suites and discreet service. A breezy, marble-floor lobby contains a peaked bleached-wood ceiling, burbling fountain, and plush royal-purple seating. Amenity highlights: An expansive lagoon pool contains a round, swim-up bar under a wood-shingle roof at one end and a round rock-garden island at the other. Two shallow children's sections, one with fountains, connect to the pool. The surrounding marble sundeck features padded lounge chairs and pink umbrellas and includes a wood-plank section with dining tables and hammock shaded by palms. The sea laps a half-mile of light-colored beach furnished with thatch shades. Insider tip: This resort's guests enjoy access to facilities and restaurant signing privileges at two companion properties sharing Reduit Beach. The Rex St. Lucian (adjacent) includes a beauty salon in a small shopping plaza. The Rex Papillion St. Lucia farther along the beach includes a kids' club where Royal St. Lucian guests can leave children for day/night sessions without charge.
